Cookie Policy
Effective date: June 15, 2026
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. We also use similar technologies such as browser local storage. This policy explains exactly what we use — nothing more.
Strictly necessary (always on)
Required for the site to function; they cannot be switched off.
| Name | Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| gerald_cookie_consent | Local storage | Remembers your cookie choice (accepted or declined). | Until you clear browser storage |
| i18nextLng | Local storage | Remembers your language preference (EN / DE / JA). | Until you clear browser storage |
| ui_session_id | Local storage | Anonymous session identifier used for technical error logging so we can diagnose UI problems. | Until you clear browser storage |
| sidebar:state | Cookie (admin area only) | Remembers whether the admin sidebar is expanded or collapsed. | 7 days |
Analytics (only with your consent — off by default)
These are loaded only after you accept analytics in the cookie banner.
| Name | Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| gerald_visitor_id | Local storage (first-party) | Random identifier we generate ourselves to count page views and resource downloads in our own database. Not shared with advertising networks. Removed immediately if you opt out. | Until you opt out or clear browser storage |
| _ga, _ga_<container-id> | Cookie (set by Google Analytics) | Anonymous usage statistics — distinguishes visitors and sessions so we understand how the site is used. | Up to 24 months |
No marketing cookies
We do not use marketing, advertising, or social-media tracking cookies. There is no Facebook Pixel, no Google Ads tag, no LinkedIn Insight tag, and no session-recording tool on this site.
Your choices
When you first visit, the cookie banner lets you Accept all, Accept necessary only, or set preferences individually. Analytics is off until you opt in.
You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie Preferences" in the footer.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings (see your browser's help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge); blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site.
Third parties
The only third party that sets cookies on this site (with your consent) is Google (Google Analytics). See Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. Data associated with analytics may be processed in the United States; see the International Transfers section of our Privacy Policy.
